THE HISTORY OF "ICE CREAM CART"
In the second half of the 19°century an unprecedented economic crisis hit il Cadore and the Val di Zoldo.
In veneto, northern Italy the fall of local economy forced residents to reinvent their professions.
In the winter small groups of ex-miners, metal and woodworkers left their homes and to the northern cities making and selling fresh and dried fruit and nut specialities and delicacies.
In time, the people of the zoldani and cadorini regions realized that making and selling ice cream would solve summer work problems and they were right.
Italian ice cream was already famous and so the market was ripe.
Between 1864 and 1870 among many ice cream makers in Vienna were tomed Antonio and Julius Mattiuzzi from Zoppe di Cadore and there they started the tradition of zoldani and cadorini as ice cream makers.
During this period the famous ice cream carts began to appear on the streets of Europe.
